Gainey Village Pilates Trainer

Maurice began teaching Pilates after working at the Village for ten years as a massage therapist. He started having shoulder and knee issues so he quit working out. The Village fitness director at the time suggested he look into Pilates and he’s been hooked ever since.

Maurice is Balance Body certified through Palm Desert Pilates in California. In addition to Pilates, Maurice also graduated from the Blue Sky School in Wisconsin with a certification in neuromuscular massage.

Discover how a strong core can take the stress out of your joints. Muscles work with each other in harmony. Adding breath work clears and calms your mind as well. It’s almost like a moving meditation.

Cheryl Micus

Camelback Village Certified Pilates Trainer

Cheryl Micus is a Pilates Method Alliance Certified Pilates Trainer (PMA-CPT). She completed her Pilates equipment and Ballet Barre education and training through the Pilates Sports Center. Cheryl is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Association of Fitness Certifications (NAFC) and both
a Group Fitness Instructor and Sports Conditioning Specialist through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). In addition, Cheryl is also trained in and instructs TRX and PiYo. Along with Cheryl’s versatile fitness background, she is also a Fitness Nutrition Specialist through the American Council on Exercise (ACE).

Originally from Colorado, Cheryl moved to The Valley of the Sun in 2005 and is an avid enthusiast of hiking, biking, golfing and tennis. Cheryl’s enthusiasm,high- energy and fun loving spirit demonstrates her genuine passion for Pilates and fitness and her positive attitude and cheerful smile is contagious to those around her.

Tammy Nicholson

TAMMY NICHOLSON, PHD

Tammy holds a doctorate degree from the University of Utah in physical therapy and has worked as a physical therapist in the valley for the past four years.

Tammy is trained in Polestar Pilates, for both rehabilitation and studio Pilates on all pieces of equipment. She has extensive experience working with clients recovering from injuries, athletes, those who would like to improve their posture, get out of pain, and those who desire to strengthen their core and lengthen their muscles.

She is an Ironman triathlete and enjoys working with like-minded individuals, loves sports of all kinds.

Sandi Barnett

CERTIFICATIONS

After graduating from California State University Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in human development, Sandi continued her education to pursue a degree in physical therapy. During this time Sandi was introduced to Pilates. She changed her focus to Pilates which resulted in becoming certified through Balanced Body.

Sandi believes in the Pilates method of healing the body through movement. “Those little muscles that we tend to neglect are the most important muscles in the body.” Sandi has experienced and witnessed the benefits of Pilates, which makes her very passionate about her training. “I don’t see Pilates as just a workout, it is a complete lifestyle change.”

Quinn Smith

QUINN SMITH

As a former swimmer, water polo player, and synchronized swimmer in Northern California, Quinn spent most of her time underwater, until she traded in her swimsuit to attend Arizona State University. Quickly thereafter, she began a career in the craft beer industry.

Needing a change for both body and mind, Quinn turned her sights back onto the fitness world and found a love for all things Pilates and barre. She is a certified Pilates and Barre instructor, having trained in Los Angeles, Portland, and Canada. Quinn is thrilled to be a member of the Village family and likes to keep her classes upbeat and challenging, with a little dose of humor!

Melanie Gentry

Gainey Village Pilates Trainer TRX, PSC- Pilates and Barre

Melanie attended Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington. She completed her Pilates Sports Training Center program in 2012 and is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance. She teaches Pilates reformer, tower, cadillac, chair, and mat.

In addition to Pilates, Melanie is also active in fitness, golf, and tennis. She is a USPTA Developmental Tennis Coach, having coached high school level tennis. Shealsotaughtjuniortennisforthecities

of Scottsdale and Fountain Hills. She also teaches TRX and barre classes.

Pilates not only aides in rehabilitation but also helps with mobility and core strength. You’ll experience increased rotation, improved balance, breathing, and greater core and hip flexibility.

Jodi Stern

Jodi trained in the classical East Coast Pilates method and has been teaching for 20 years. She opened a successful studio in upstate New York which she sold to move out west. While in New York she was the fitness spokesperson for the CBS, and ABC morning news shows. And has been the fitness expert for Gannett news services, as well as various newspapers and magazines.

Jodi is also barre certified, as well as Yamuna body rolling, gyro movement, activecore, and Spinning®.

Joan Kramer

Joan has worked in the fitness industry since 1982. She became a Pilates trainer in 1997 and brings a variety of health and fitness experience into each session. Her personal athletic accomplishments began with ballet, expanded into competitive roller skating and additional forms of dance, and continue with hiking, cycling, and ballroom dance. She teaches seniors, athletes, youth, maternity and rehabilitating clients.

Joan believes that everyone can accomplish fitness goals with safety and efficiency while having fun.

Jinger Parson

Gainey Village Pilates Trainer ACE-CPT, ACE-GEI

Jinger is Stott Pilates certified in mat, reformer, cadillac, barrel, and chair; LeMond and Keiser indoor cycling; barre certified, and is a Yoga Alliance member.

With over 30 years of experience in the fitness industry, Jinger’s strong background in competitive dance, cheer, volleyball and cycling allows her to bring both grace and power to all of her instruction.

Jinger’s focus is on increasing flexibility and strength which allows longevity in any modality. Injury prevention is at the forefront of every workout. Her restorative mobility protocol helps increase strength through a full range of motion and assists in the recovery process.

Bonnie Rich

Gainey Village Pilates Trainer

Bonnie has been teaching Pilates for over 20 years, 14 at Gainey Village. Many of her clients have been with her for long periods of time and she is very passionate about what Pilates can do for a person…mind, body and spirit.

Bonnie’s love of movement began as a child which eventually led to a professional career in ballet at The Hartford Ballet and Ballet Arizona.

Bonnie’s Pilates training includes Stott certified mat, reformer, cadillac, chair, and barrels as well as injuries and special populations. She also teaches barre and TRX. Bonnie offers Fascial Stretch TherapyTM to enhance one’s desire to move more freely and feel an overall sense of well being and increased flexibility.
