Thanks to money made from the sale of some old spin bikes, Camelback Village Group Fitness Director Linda Hertzberg was able to have a steel beam structure and awning installed on the roof deck overlooking the tennis courts.
The strong metal bars make the area a perfect location for TRX training classes that can accommodate up to 12 people. “There’s nowhere inside the club where we can have more than three people doing TRX at once,” Linda says. “The roof is a great venue with Camelback Mountain as a beautiful backdrop.”
The concept of suspension training was developed in the Navy SEALs program, to simultaneously develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability. The specialized, portable TRX equipment relies on gravity and your body weight so you can perform hundreds of possible exercises. “It’s great all-around conditioning for men and women alike,” Linda says.
At the rooftop classes, everyone gets a degree of personal attention from expert trainers. Classes are $15 each, with packages of 4 available for $40. To reserve a spot, call the front desk at 602-840-6412 on the day before class.
