When hitting the gym or the great outdoors for a good sweat session, it’s important to dress for the occasion. Comfort and functionality should be of the utmost importance when selecting great workout clothes. The good news is there are so many brands out there that offer these qualities, while also offering fitness gurus a chance to flaunt their fashion sense as they work out! Here we take a look at some of the season’s top fashion trends in fitness wear:

Crop it Like it’s Hot — Cropped tees, tanks, hoodies, and light jackets are all the rage this transitional season into spring and summer. Rocking a crop allows for free movement and allows wearers to show off toned tummies. Wrap style and tied-detail crops are super cute for the warmer weather Try this combined with another trend of the season — the mock turtle neck — in either a sports bra or a cropped style top.

Reach for the High — High-waisted leggings are in this season and that’s a good thing for many reasons. First, they pair perfectly with the crop top that’s hot this season, plus high-waisted leggings provide support and almost a natural “tummy tuck.” They are slimming too, look for ones with dramatic seams or vertical lines along the outer side.

What’s Bold is New Again — Some of the season’s most popular colors include bright hues such as tangerine orange, bright blues, and rich grape purples. Be bold and rock some bright blue or purple pants. For those that prefer their boldness in small doses, look for fitness wear with hints and accents of these popular spring hues.

To Tie-Dye For — Tie-dye is making a comeback and appearing in fitness wear in everything from leggings, to tops, to sets, and more. For those are all about peace, love, and 60s’ flare, now’s the time to rock this timeless trend.

Mesh — The 80s called and it’s sending us an updated version of the mesh trend! Whether rocking a light mesh jacket for a brisk morning walk or round of tennis, to selecting some pants with some sexy peek-a-boo accents, mesh athleisure is all over the place this season — in and outside of the gym!

Florals — For a more romantic vibe, florals in fitness gear are popular as the season blooms to life! Whether you chose large florals or itty bitty buds, flowery patterns are popping up everywhere this spring.

Go for the Green — Extending eco-conscious living to the fitness fashion world, eco-conscious activewear and athleisure is all the rage — and, the future is green. Mono B Green, a fashionable fitness collection features new eco-conscious activewear constructed from 100 percent certified recycled polyester or 100 percent certified recycled nylon combined with Lycra or spandex. And Yoganastix, eco-fashion made in Arizona and created by Brett Matheson (artist/designer) and his wife Rachel, is the largest sustainable manufacturer in Arizona. Producing beautifully crafted clothing utilizing sustainable fabrics, inks, and processes to reduce the carbon footprint and help remove plastic from the environment. Yoganastix’s pants and leggings are made from about 20 recycled plastic bottles. Both lines are available at the Village boutiques.

Most importantly, workout clothes should feel good — and make you feel good when you wear them! It’s a great way to extend one’s fashion sense into the gym, so why not have a little fun with fitness fashion trends this season!

Access Quality Health Clubs When You Travel: Village Clubs partner with IHRSA and TrainAway

Do you travel frequently but find it hard to keep up your workout routine? We might have the answer. Village Club’s participation in the IHRSA Passport Program, powered by TrainAway now offers members like you the option to easily access great health clubs around the world.

Stay fit while traveling

Traveling is fun and makes our lives better – there’s no question about that. But frequent journeys can also create difficulties in maintaining our fitness routine. When you’re away, getting regular workouts never as easy as it is at home, and it’s always harder to choose the healthy option. It’s difficult not to lose track of your healthy habits and avoid decreases in your strength and fitness when you come home.

However, what if there was a way to get rid of these inactive periods altogether? By continuing to train while you travel, it’s so much easier to slot back into your routine when you get back.

And we have a solution that makes it easy to do this.

Access over 1300 clubs all over the world

We’ve partnered with TrainAway and IHRSA to offer members a simple way to access more than 1300 clubs worldwide. As a Village Clubs member, you can now get short-term access to clubs in 49 US states, and cities like New York, Washington DC, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. You can also work out in one of the hundreds of clubs located in Asia-Pacific, Canada, and Europe.

As an IHRSA Passport partner, our members can now purchase exclusive access to all other clubs in the program at a discounted price, through the TrainAway platform.

This also means IHRSA Passport users visiting Arizona can book a day pass access to any of Village Clubs’ four locations via TrainAway.

Take your fitness journey with you

We all know the frustration that comes with a long non-active period. Business travel and vacations can decrease our strength and fitness levels, even if we miss just a couple of sessions. We tend to eat out more, and not keep up our healthy diets. This program negates these difficulties by making it just as easy to access clubs while traveling as it is at home.

Some travelers choose an alternative method of staying fit while traveling, like hotel-room exercises or local running routes. And although those can help you, they can’t compare to the professional equipment, staff and atmosphere you’ll find in a full-service health club, which offers the opportunity to work out just as you would at home.

You’ll also get exposure to different exercise approaches and ways of thinking about training, helping you to return home with fresh motivation and desire to reach your goals.

How to take advantage of the program?

Just follow these simple steps to get started. Before doing so be sure to ask a Village Clubs employee for our Passport invitation code, which will allow you to experience the TrainAway app as a Passport user, and to save 25% on the price of a one-day pass at Passport clubs.

  1. Download the free TrainAway app and enter the invitation code when setting up your profile.
  2. Search for a club in the area where you are traveling and purchase a one-day pass.
  3. When you arrive at the club to work out, activate the pass on your phone and show the front desk.
  4. Enjoy your workout!
