Ted Kackowski

ACSM- RCEP, Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist; ACSM-CPT, Certified Personal Trainer; CPR/AED Certified

Ted was born and raised in Indianapolis and received his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Indiana University. He received his master’s degree in clinical exercise physiology from Carroll University in Wisconsin. Prior to working at the Village, Ted worked in several different rehab and clinical settings, including cardiopulmonary rehab, a diabetic education center, and stroke rehab. He has helped individuals of all ages and likes to focus his training on the health benefits of exercise and his client’s goals. He enjoys employing exercises for building strength, improving activities of daily living, and increasing the health of his clients.

Samantha McElmury

Samantha graduated from Winona State University in Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. Samantha grew up playing hockey, softball, and volleyball. This love of sports guided Samantha to finish her schooling with an internship at EXOS in Phoenix to work with some of the top-notch athletes from around the world. Samantha also has a background in bodybuilding, with two bikini shows under her belt. Samantha likes to mix up her training by doing bodybuilding-style, functional training, HIIT, and cardiovascular training.

David Larson

David earned his master’s degree in kinesiology from A. T. Still University and his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Arizona State University. He is currently completing a doctoral degree in health sciences at A.T Still University, where he is researching conservative treatment modalities for the postpartum condition diastasis recti. David is also an instructor in both the graduate and undergraduate kinesiology programs at A.T. Still University and Arizona State University where he teaches courses in biomechanics, exercise physiology, health solutions, and evidence-based practice. David is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a Certified Pre- and Postnatal Coach (CPPC), and Certified Level 2 Nutrition Coach through Precision Nutrition (PN2). He specializes in pre- and post-natal training, youth athletic performance, and strength and conditioning for athletes and professionals. When not training clients, teaching, or coaching, David enjoys watch-ing sports, reading, and spending time with his family.

Joey Vacek

Joey graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. During this time, he worked in several different physical therapy settings where he learned exercise progressions and regressions from some of the best therapists in the state. In high school, Joey started lifting weights and exercising regularly. This is when he developed a passion for exercise and fell in love with the process of strength training. Joey grew up living a very active lifestyle mostly consisting of skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing. Joey has worked with people from all backgrounds, ages, and skill levels. Whatever your goals, he will be able to help you achieve them.

Alyssa Kalthoff

Alyssa graduated from Minnesota State University–Mankato with a master’s degree in exercise physiology. She grew up playing sports, including basketball and volleyball, which led to her playing Division II golf in college. While completing her degree, she was the assistant golf coach for two years for her alma mater. She then interned with Bommarito Performance Systems in Miami, Florida and had the opportunity to work with and train NFL players. Her experience with sports and coaching influenced her interest in sports performance and personal training. Alyssa’s philosophy on training is sport specific with a focus on teaching functional movements to her clients that help them perform and move better in their everyday lives. She develops workout programs that are specific to each client’s goals using weight training, high-intensity interval training, and cardiovascular exercises. Alyssa also enjoys hiking, weight training, and attending sporting events.

Mimi Quinn

Camelback Village Personal Trainer

LMT, NASM-CPT, NASM-CES

Mimi earned her bachelor’s degree in sport management and her master’s degree in exercise science with a concentration in rehabilitation science from California University of Pennsylvania.  For more than 10 years, she has been a personal trainer working with individuals one-on-one and in small group settings.  In addition to her training certifications, Mimi is also a licensed massage therapist and utilizes her manual therapy skills to further enhance the training and recovery experience.

As a corrective exercise specialist, Mimi works with her clients to improve and enhance the skillful execution of movement, enabling clients to return to and excel in their favorite sports and activities. Mimi also specializes in sport-specific training with a particular interest in kickboxing, a sport in which she competed at the amateur level for several years.

Jack Spencer

Camelback Village Personal Trainer

Jack was born and raised here in Phoenix, Arizona and earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Arizona State University. He has been involved in a wide range of sports his entire life.  After high school, Jack discovered a passion for kickboxing and strength training and enjoys training both one-on- one and group settings.  Jack enjoys balancing a wide range of training styles to accomplish his clients goals, including strength training, Intervals, functional movements, and hypertrophy training.

Jack trained in Muay Thai for many years, but developed a love for power lifting during college. Although he rather be in the strength room, Jack enjoys trying new workout activities and pushing himself out of his comfort zone.

Dan Hejl

Dan earned a degree from the University of Minnesota in kinesiology.  He has been a personal trainer for 10 years and enjoys working with all ages and experience levels. Sports specific training is his real passion!

Dan played rugby at the collegiate level at the University of Minnesota, as well as football, baseball and track in high school.

Rochelle Walter

Rochelle graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. As a former athlete she has endured many sports injuries and has had a passion to help others not only recover, but achieve top physical performance. Rochelle has been teaching group fitness classes since 2006 and has been personal and group training since 2012. She also has experience with physical therapy as she was a tech for two years and had the privilege of working with Muhammad Ali. She enjoys weight, circuit, and interval training and also likes to incorporate kickboxing and body weight exercises to keep the body guessing.

Rochelle played varsity basketball and track all four years of high school and still enjoys playing in local leagues. She also enjoys hiking and exercising outdoors, but her favorite place to be is the weight room.

Megan Smith – Fitness Director

Megan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Texas Tech and continued her education at Texas Tech earning her master’s degree in strength and conditioning. Between 2006-2010, Megan played soccer for the University of Texas Tech and was the Texas Tech Female Athlete of the Year in 2010. Megan enjoys being active outside (hiking and cycling), traveling, snowboarding, boating, and running her dog.

Fitness Specializations and Interests

Megan has worked with athletes at the Division 1 collegiate level,coaching proper techniques in strength and Olympic lifts, speed, power, agility and conditioning development, but really enjoys motivating clients to live a healthy fit life. Megan has participated in Crossfit, running events (5K & 10K), Sprint Triathlons and Olympic Triathlons.

Naci Melzer

Naci graduated from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology. She moved from Minnesota to Phoenix and started training at the Village in 1998.

Naci played college volleyball and basketball. She ran the Chicago marathon and completed several distance running and road bike races. Naci enjoys running, hiking, biking and rollerblading.

Peter Love

Peter graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelors degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education. He has been involved in sports his whole life including playing semi-professional baseball in the Canadian Baseball League. He has also coached high school baseball and has also been an elementary school physical education teacher. He enjoys using a combination of circuit, weight, interval and functional training methods to help you achieve your fitness goals.

Linda Lawyer

Linda graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in health youth leadership and physical education. She received a master’s degree in exercise physiology with a minor in nutrition. She has worked in the fitness industry for over 15 years as a personal trainer, physical therapist aid, swim teacher and water aerobics instructor.

Todd Hinsberger

Todd has trained at the Camelback Village since 1995. A student athlete at Arizona State University, Todd earned a degree in exercise science and worked as a student strength coach with all varsity sports.

Todd has an extensive background in sports specific training. He has interned for the Phoenix Cardinals, the Chicago Cubs and the Arizona Rattlers. Todd also spent a year working as an exercise physiologist, specializing in the area of work hardening and work recovery.

Mark Campbell

Mark graduated from Arizona State University in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. He has been a personal trainer in the valley since 1995 and has worked at the Village since 2000.
