Safe & Strong Together

Per the AZDHS new requirements, members must wear a face covering while inside the club at all times. Members should still maintain 6 feet of physical distancing even while wearing a face covering. This mandate must be strictly enforced for us to remain open. Please be respectful to our staff as they enforce this mandate.

The Village is committed to providing our employees and members with the cleanest and safest environment possible. As a local business here in our Arizona community for over 30 years, we are excited and cautiously optimistic to begin this journey into our “new normal.” We have been consulting with our local government, the CDC and IHRSA, our fitness industry trade association, to create the guidelines for our reopening plan.

Watch our video below to learn more about what to expect when you come back to the club.

Here are some of the new guidelines and procedures that we have put in place to minimize the risk of exposure as we begin our phased reopening:

Health and Safety:

  • All members will be required to sign a Member Social Responsibility Agreement before their first visit back to the club or tennis center. The agreement can be found on-line here and we will have them available at the club. Members will not be allowed to enter the facility until they have signed this agreement.
  • All members and employees will have their temperature taken, with a no-touch thermometer, before checking in. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be denied access.
  • All employees will wear face coverings. Some departments will require employees to also wear gloves.
  • All returning staff will be trained on the new cleaning and sanitizing protocols.
  • Per the AZDHS new requirements, members must wear a face covering while inside the club at all times. Members should still maintain 6 feet of physical distancing even while wearing a face covering. This mandate must be strictly enforced for us to remain open. Please be respectful to our staff as they enforce this mandate.
  • Plexiglass barriers have been installed at all welcome desks, cafés, manicure stations and in membership offices where needed.

Facility:

  • Adding additional staff for deep cleaning and disinfecting throughout the club from opening to close.
  • Using electrostatic handheld sprayers to disinfect the clubs, including group exercise studios and equipment between classes.
  • Group exercise studios will have markings on the floors to indicate 6 feet spaces for physical distancing. All equipment used in classes will be sanitized before and after class by Village staff. Sanitized equipment will be placed within the 6 feet designated areas for each class participant before class begins.
  • Group exercise class schedule will be reduced in order to provide a minimum of 30 minutes between each class for cleaning and sanitation. Class participants will be limited in order to maintain a minimum of 6 feet of physical distancing. Members will be required to pre-register for all classes on the Village app. Members may also call to make reservations. Please check the app for the class schedules.
  • Every other piece of cardio equipment will be available to provide 6 feet of physical distancing.
  • We will limit capacity on the fitness floor and free weight area based on physical distancing guidelines.
  • Club operating hours will be reduced to allow for more overnight deep cleaning and sanitation.
  • Members will be required to utilize touchless hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes to wipe off all equipment before and after use.
  • Café will have a reduced menu of smoothies, drinks and grab and go items. Café lounge areas will have seating spaced out to maintain the 6 feet of physical distancing.
  • Showers, sinks, toilets and lockers will be available. Wet areas including steam, sauna and jacuzzi will have new maximum occupancy requirements.
  • Installed the GPS air purifying system in all group exercise and yoga studios. This HVAC system will help control airborne pathogens and surface pathogen protection while providing high quality indoor air.

As we navigate through the many challenges of reopening, this plan will be subject to change as circumstances and needs arise. We will continue to update all members on our website and other social media platforms.

We understand that many members and employees have concerns in these uncertain times. One of the main points that came from our reopening survey and from many member emails, was that members had confidence that the Village would take all the necessary steps to reopen our clubs in the safest manner possible. What they were most concerned about was whether some of their fellow members would follow our safety guidelines and if not, would the Village intervene with these members and require them to adhere to our guidelines. As the President of the Village, I can assure you that I and my staff are very serious in enforcing all these new safety guidelines. Members who do not comply will be addressed by an employee of the Village. Members who have repeat offenses will be told they cannot access the facility unless they adhere to these new guidelines.

We all want the Village clubs to have a successful and safe reopening. We can only achieve this goal if we work together. We’re looking forward to welcoming you back to the club.

Carol A. Nalevanko

President
