While playing football in high school I took it upon myself to supplement my training with steroids, which would later catch up with me. In February of 2007 I joined the DC Ranch Village and took full advantage of all the amenities the Village had to offer. In 2009 I was in the best shape of my life. It was about that time that I experienced a sharp pain in left arm. I checked myself in to the ER and after having a ECG done, the doctors took me in for observation. I was 27 years old. Basically one of the chambers in my heart was beating too fast to refill the other chamber. The cardiologist told me that he has not experienced a client going through “v-tech” for three days before and told me that I should have not woken up. Because of my cardiovascular strength (from working out) my heart was adjusting itself. After many tests I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease. I strongly believe that if I had not joined the Village, I would not be here to share my story. The mentoring that my trainer has given me has kept me healthier than ever. We also developed a friendship that will last a lifetime. Being a member at the Village has been a blessing and will continue to be so for many years to come!
I joined the Village 5 years ago because my friends work out here and I thought it would be a good place for real estate contacts. Before the Village I was 300+ pounds. I drank too much, ate too much, and lived a very sedentary lifestyle. Since joining I have lost more than 50 pounds, stopped drinking, learned how to eat smarter and my life has never been better. The Village employees and members have changed my life dramatically. I couldn’t have ever imagined that a gym would improve my life, but it has. I love the variety of activities offered at the Village. Not only can I practice yoga (hot and cold), but I can also participate in group cycling, kinesis, weight training, and cardio. There is even a smaller training center where I can work out by myself if I want. I never really liked hiking until the Village. Now I have been to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and to many mountain tops that surround our Valley.
I am an energetic and extremely driven seventeen year old. Ever since I was little I have always been involved in different activities including art, music and theatre, but the thing that sparked my interest the most was, and still is, my involvement in sports. From my first ballet lesson as a five year old, to now competing in high school athletics, it has always been my goal and passion to give 100% effort into every practice, game, or competition. Although the desire to give my all has always come natural to me, it wasn’t until I started working with a trainer my freshman year that I began to develop the confidence and courage that changed my perception about myself and even life. This confidence and courage has helped me face fears and overcome many obstacles. Whether it be a tough workout for cross country or an important test at school, I have learned that I am capable of achieving so much more than I ever thought I could. Working with a Village personal trainer has helped me understand the importance of developing confidence and a positive mind set so that I am able to accomplish any task before me and achieve the goals I desire to reach.
Once we toured Gainey and saw for ourselves how nice the amenities were, how many classes were offered, the friendly environment and most importantly the amazing staff – it was an easy decision to join! The Village is really like joining a country club with a friendly environment. There are so many things that we love about the Village. It’s really in a class all its own. We love the water stations, the variety and quality of all equipment, and the locker rooms that make it so convenient to get ready in or just to relax. We also love that there are so many activities offered outside the gym that really add that extra element that so many clubs do not offer. You can work out, get a spa treatment, get ready for the day and have lunch. This was a new experience for us. The class instructors are great. Some have become good friends which is quite amazing. The club is always clean and the amenities provided have made us brag about where we work out. We love bringing our friends and family to visit from out of town. Two years ago we considered moving to Washington state but, among other things, we didn’t want to leave the Village. I don’t think that’s very common!
I was looking for a premier tennis facility with quality players and courts, modern cardio and weight equipment, a spacious and clean upscale locker room, a social venue to meet and network with great people and a professional staff with good interpersonal skills. I haven’t found a better club than the Village – and I’ve done the research! The Village exceeds all my expectations, so much so that in the past two years I was able to lose 30 lbs, significantly improve my tennis game and meet some amazing people. My Village experience begins the moment I walk in when I am greeted by the front desk staff by name. There are so many activities to choose from such as yoga, Spinning, tennis, basketball, swimming, massage, shopping, dining and so much more. I’ve attended member socials, tennis parties, member appreciation day and many other exciting events. The general manager participates in friendly tennis matches with the members and does an amazing job managing the club. The tennis director has been very instrumental in improving my mental toughness and strategic planning. The Village has great people working for them who cater to member needs and concerns.
